Answers to common problems
  • I'm having trouble downloading...
  • Try the nearest FTP site first. If you have persistent trouble downloading, we can send specified files by email upon request.

  • I get 'Wave error: Interrupt failure' when I launch FTV under Windows95/98...
  • FTV is a DOS program, but it works under Win95/98 and XP, as long as DirectX (supplied by Microsoft) is installed. Otherwise you have to reboot in MS-DOS mode before running FTV. Refer to user's manual, Section 3.1: Windows 95.

  • My sound card is not detected under MS-DOS...
  • FTV works only with Sound Blaster compatible cards (e.g. SB Pro, SB16, AWE32, AWE64 and their clones). Refer to user's manual, Section 3.3: Plug & Play Sound Cards Under MS-DOS.

  • The level shown on the tuning scope is stuck at 0%...
  • Refer to user's manual, Section 7.1: Something on sound cards.

  • I have a PCI sound card / an integrated sound chipset...
  • Some PCI cards by Creative Labs (PCI64V, PCI128V, PCI512) are not true Sound Blaster clones. They come with a special driver that provides legacy emulation, but it only works as expected on playback. If you have one of these cards, you will not be able to receive anything with FTV. The same applies to motherboards with integrated sound chipsets.

  • I'm receiving a jumble of lines...
  • Refer to user's manual, Section 4: Calibration.
  • The line rate is far too slow.
Note how the lines are slanting to the left.
Image is discernible, but the line rate is still too slow. The original picture, with the correct line rate. The Line Rate is too fast.
Note how the lines are slanting to the right.
